Mr. Montie R. Brewer has been a Non-Executive Director at Aer Lingus Group plc since January 2010 as well as Director at Allegiant Travel Co. He was newly appointed to the Board of Directors of Swiss International Air Lines in September 2013.
He is an airline veteran and a recognized industry innovator in airline pricing, sales and distribution strategies and particularly noted for his command of airline revenue models and for mentoring a generation of airline planning personnel.
In December 2004 Mr. Brewer was appointed President and CEO of ACE’s mainline carrier, Air Canada. Under his leadership, Air Canada became the clear North American leader in pricing innovation.
He started at Air Canada in April 2002 as Executive Vice President, Commercial. In that role he was the chief architect of Air Canada’s new business model including the airline’s successful simplified fare structure. Mr. Brewer was also responsible for all commercial aspects of Air Canada including Air Canada Jazz, Air Canada Jetz, Air Canada Vacations, new businesses and the strategic direction of network planning, marketing and scheduling.
Prior to Air Canada, Mr. Brewer served as a Senior Vice President of Planning at United Airlines, where he acted as a key negotiator in the founding of Star Alliance. Further airline experience was gained in previous stints at Northwest Airlines, Republic Airlines, Braniff and TransWorld Airlines. He has planned and developed over 20 hub operations worldwide, managed low cost airline operations as President of United Shuttle and successfully restructured the route networks of three carriers.
Beyond all of this, he has served on the Board of Governors of The International Air Transport Association, on the Board of Directors of Air Canada and on the Advisory Board of travel-technology start-up Everbread. Mr. Brewer is Director, member of the Nominating Committee and member of the Compensation Committee of the Allegiant Travel Company and has also been elected to the Board of Directors at Aer Lingus Group plc.
Mr. Brewer began his employment in the airline industry in 1981 and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan.
