Bjorn Hauksson assumed the position of Managing Director of Isavia ltd at the establishment of the company in 2010 when Keflavik International Airport ltd was merged with the national airports and air navigation service provider Flugstodir ltd. He had been the Managing Director of Keflavik International Airport from 2009. During the previous seven years Hauksson worked on the development of aviation infrastructure in Kosovo in various positions. He worked from 2005 as Program Manager for the Icelandic Civil Aviation Administration and later Flugstodir ltd developing the Pristina International Airport J.S.C. During this time he worked for a period as Managing Director for the airport.
In 2002 while working as Chief of Staff of the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) Pillar IV, he assumed responsibilities for Civil Aviation in UNMIK and in 2003 he became Director of the UNMIK Central Regulatory Unit where he established the UNMIK Civil Aviation Regulatory Office – CARO.
His experience includes international airport management with professional and financial responsibilities, policy making, zoning, environmental management, safety protocol and professional supervision. He has overseen the establishment of three airport companies and directed the merger of airport and air terminal operations both in Kosovo and Iceland and the development of the new companies.
