Chief Commercial Officer
Mr. Oliver Wagner was born in Karlsruhe, Germany, on September 10th, 1965.
He joined the Executive Boards of Eurowings GmbH and Eurowings Aviation GmbH in November 2015. In his role as Chief Commercial Officer he is responsible for the following divisions:
After completing his national service, Oliver Wagner studied Industrial Engineering at the Karlsruhe Technical University from 1986 to 1992. He began his professional career as a management consultant with Ernst & Young in Stuttgart, before joining Deutsche Lufthansa AG as a senior manager within Lufthansa’s Corporate Strategy Department in 1995.
In 1999 he was appointed Director Miles & More program development and in 2000 took overall responsibility for Lufthansa's Frequent Flyer program as Vice President Miles & More. Until 2004 he and his team launched among others the website milesandmore.com, the Hon Circle program and integrated Austrian Airlines and LOT Polish Airlines into the program.
From 2004 to 2009, as Vice President for Lufthansa's worldwide ground product and services, he was, amongst others, responsible for launching web check-in and as first in the industry the mobile check-in.
From 2009 until 2012 he was as Senior Vice President Direct Services responsible for the restructuring of Lufthansa’s Point-to-Point Traffic outside the Hubs in Frankfurt and Munich. He headed some 1800 employees, a fleet of 65 shorthaul and 3 longhaul aircraft, generating a turnover of 1,2 billion €.
In November 2011 Oliver Wagner was appointed Member of the Board of Germanwings GmbH. In his role as Chief Operating Officer he was responsible for Flight and Ground Operations, Network Planning and Airport Relations and played a key role in the successful merging non-hub operations of Lufthansa to Germanwings and established the “new Germanwings” in the market.
Oliver Wagner is married and has one daughter.
