James Edmunds is the Head of Academic Department for Travel and Aviation at Buckinghamshire New University. James covers a range of research and teaching areas associated with information technology within the commercial aviation and tourism sector, as well as running Europe’s largest university based commercial pilot training degree programme.
James has undertaken a number of consultancy roles for local authorities based on tourism development and promotion, this includes the London Borough of Ealing and Visit London.
He is presently working towards his PhD investigating the implications of airline consolidation on regional airports with particular reference to airports in the South West of England and Wales.
James has written two academic books focusing on key issues within the travel and tourism industry as well as an introduction to airline and airport management.
Before working in Higher Education James undertook a number of roles within the tour operating and charter airline business. James is a seasoned veteran of the Hamburg Aviation Conference due to its excellent networking opportunities and participated in the conference in 2014 with a presentation about "Discovering mobile and omni-channel opportunities" and 2015 undertook a workshop helping engage airports in ancillary revenue management.
